I guess being a photographer could be just taking pictures, but I like getting to now people. My wife and I like to sit down with clients and hear their story. They might be looking for a family portrait, but we're looking for a way to include an element that tells a little of their story.
This week we'ere shooting a family portrait on-location at the family farm. Would it be easier to shoot it in a park close to our house? It would be for us and the photos would still look great. However, we suggested coming to their property because it's familiar to the family. And it's more meaningful. When they look at their pictures they'll tell stories about swinging on tire swings and late autumn hayrides because we encouraged them to have their portraits taken where their memories are made.
That's what we make: memories. Not just pictures.
